About Me

Hello I am John Johnson, a web developer located in Denver, Colorado. Graduating from The Art Institute of California - San Francisco I majored in Web Design and Interactive Media. Though I am skilled in both design and development I prefer to dedicate my time to development. The logic puzzles that arise during development drives me to advance my programming prowess on a daily basis. Outside of programming, I love games of all sorts: table-top rpgs, console & desktop gaming, board games, and miniature wargames. I also hike, garden, practice yoga & wing-chun, and play harmonica.

Project Info

Ultim8Alex is a responsive portfolio I designed for a 3d animator. Following a 12 column grid and a wireframe the client provided, I crafted the unique layout. This project is still in progress. The design is complete but the front-end work is still being finished. The site is being programmed using the blogger templating system. Illustrator was used to craft the responsive design and TextMate is being used for the programming.

Project Info

Mochi Mobile is a project I worked on while employed at Mochi Media. Working alongside a content editor and UI Designer I guided the layout design with User Experience suggestions and interaction mockups. The site was made responsive using Twitter Bootstrap and finger swipe interactions were implemented using SlideJS. Other tools used during the project include: jQuery, TextMate, Mobile Devices for testing, and Adobe Illustrator.

Project Info

irCraig is a responsive wordpress site I am currently building for a 3d artist. The site was designed in Illustrator with the color scheme of black & white and the style of minimalistic as design guidelines. This most challenging part of this project was the sparse content I was given to build the site with. A 12 column grid was used to layout this site to easily translate the flat design to responsive.

Project Info

The1Johnson is my previous portfolio site iteration. When building the site my focus was on refining my user experience expertise and displaying my programming knowledge. I wanted the site to feel intuitive but as I had colleagues and friends test my site I was able to realize the flaws. Using the test data from the legacy site I was able to craft a new site that is more accessible. I used Illustrator to design the site and TextMate, jQuery, and Fancybox for the programming.

Project Info

The Greening is a San Francisco based psychedelic pop band. Taking the inspiration from their most recent album cover I crafted a unique WordPress theme for the band’s website which includes song samples, a contact form, and an online store. Using Illustrator for the design, the PayPal Developer’s API, and TextMate for the programming I was able to quickly produce a site for the bands album release.

Project Info

Ecouter is a mock e-commerce site, built as a one stop shop for formal accessories. The site was created with a team of three. I assumed the role of User Experience and Front-end Engineer. This site was built to practice working in small teams and to flesh out my knowledge of the PHP syntax. All of the programming for the site was done using Eclipse. Other tools during production include: Photoshop, Illustrator, and MAMP.
